Tall and wide, pylon signs are ideal for attracting the attention of consumers from a distance. Reminiscent, in some respects, of billboards, it is no surprise that pylon signs are used on the roadside. A pylon sign can be used to mark the location of a single business or a group of businesses that occupy a multitenant strip center or shopping pavilion. Types of businesses that can benefit most from the erection of a pylon sign on their property include:
Hotels
Motels, hotels, and resorts catering to various markets should invest in pylon signs to make passersby aware of their presence. From highway motels seeking business from truckers and tired travelers looking to rest at the nearest hotel to upscale resorts who wish to make finding their property as convenient for booked guests as all of the services and amenities they offer.
Gas Stations
Filling stations use a range of signs to draw those with empty tanks, empty stomachs, and caffeine headaches to their pumps and convenience stores. Pylon signs are great because they allow gas stations to prominently display their name, current gas prices, and the names of any restaurant franchises housed within.
Restaurants
Even with the proliferation of location assistance devices, prominent signs featuring logos and signature specials can have a serious influence on a hungry motorist’s decision to pull over and grab a bite. Restaurants situated in the city can use pylon signs to make it easier for patrons to locate them.
Outlet Retail Stores
While hotels, gas stations, and restaurants frequently use pylon signs to showcase their presence, the quintessential pylon is probably the sign that can be found at the entrance to a strip center. The stature and layout of these signs makes it easy to advertise the presence of several businesses in one prime viewing location.

Attractive and versatile, monument signs can be designed to suit any type of commercial landscape. They can also be personalized so that their shape and color scheme are appropriate for the businesses and organizations whose locations they mark. If you are in the process of having a monument sign designed for your business, make sure you consider the following tips during the design phase.
Choose Size, Shape, and Location
Before you can design your sign, it is important to be aware of the parameters within which you must work. Determine where you want to place your sign and the optimal size and shape for your needs, and then check local zoning regulations to make sure that a sign of such stature would be compliant.
Sketch a Draft
If you present the signage design specialist you hire with an idea of what you would like your sign to look like, it can speed up the sign design and installation process. Sketch a draft that includes any images and text that you would like to appear on your monument sign, and then look for a commercial sign expert who can use your rough sketch to design a sign that exceeds your expectations. Remember that your sign should be original, and that it is always a smart idea to register a trademark or copyright on any text or images that you do not want other companies to rebrand as their own.
Obtain Permits
Before you can spend money bringing your monument sign vision to life, it is important to obtain any permits that local ordinances may require. Some experienced, full service, business sign specialists may be able to do the legwork on securing these permits for you.
Once you have completed the steps outlined in this article and your sign has been engineered, you can erect it in front of your business without worrying about running into any sort of zoning or copyright issues. If you are looking for a business sign expert to help you obtain permits, design your sign, and install the finished product on your Atlanta property, Commercial Signs can help you. An esteemed and decorated steward for business interests statewide, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has been a prominent advocate for businesses small and large for nearly a century. Recently, the organization moved its headquarters to the intersection of Peachtree and Baker Streets in downtown Atlanta.
To mark its territory, the group hired Commercial Signs to design and install LED channel letters on the 22nd and highest story of the tiled office building in which it is housed. The letters are five and a half feet in length, and appear black during the day and bright white at night.
If you have seen the Georgia Chamber of Commerce headquarters’ signage and would like to have LED channel letters or another type of sign installed on or in front of your Atlanta area business, call Commercial Signs at (678) 383-2256.
